what is mumbop?

Mumbop is the brainchild of Tessa Wilson. 

Tess has been teaching dance fitness for 5 years; busy, wildly fun classes. (Aided by Tessa's dance and immersive theatre performer history, zumba training and fitness qualifications). So when Tess then had her second child in 2020 and got to that moment post baby when you yearn to do some exercise she felt a little exasperated with the options..

Bootcamps (which were very tough and boring OR yoga which was lovely but oh so gentle- and expensive!) she realised there was a need for something fun for mammas, where little ones were welcome but not the centre piece.. and Mumbop was born!

What also occurred post baby was how frustrating society was on trying to pressure mums to 'spring back' into shape, diet, count calories, loose belly fat.. all of this triggered a fire within Tess who alongside the classes is building a community of mammas and encourages them to let that go and focus on re-finding their sense of self! The classes are easy to follow dance moves set to banging tunes (often 90s/00s!), some secret squats (so secret! 😉) and a whole load of fun.. at Mumbop we do get a sweat on but we don't do anything majorly intense.

Following these successful classes Tess launched Mumrave

A nightime banging, bassy, fairly intense yet joyful class with glow sticks in the dark to the likes of Prodigy, Shy FX, Boomfunk MC's, Major Lazer and anything else we fancy raving too...!  As a mum Tess wanted her fellow mammas to know the class is a safe, non judgmental space you can come and party (since we don't get to do that much!) however all are welcome mums or not..! (Not the littlens though, they're not invited for this as it's loud!)
